As band 4 Prison Pharmacy Technician you will work as part of our Prison healthcare team to establish and develop good medicines management systems, promote evidence-based, cost-effective prescribing and support ABUHB and prison initiatives to promote and improve patient selfcare in a secure setting
The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of routine and non-routine duties in relation to the preparation and supply of medicines and related products for service users within HMP Usk and Prescoed.
You will be expected to exercise a degree of autonomy and control in the performance of allocated duties within limits set by the Clinical Prison Pharmacist supervising the section, and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Main duties of the job
As a Pharmacy Technician at HMP Usk and Prescoed, you will assist in the delivery of a high quality pharmacy service to the prison population.
You can expect to provide medicines management services to assist in tackling identified, inequalities within the prison population contributing to diagnosis of care and treatment needs. This includes providing pharmacy related information to patients and other healthcare professionals ensuring that the level of advice given is appropriate to overcome barriers to understanding, conveying complex and sensitive information in an easily understandable form.
The Pharmacy Technician will also assist with the implementation and development of pharmacy support to all wings in the prison which includes, where appropriate, counselling of patients on the correct use of medication.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
