Job summary

The physiotherapy department at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr (YYF) is vibrant and supportive team with a passion for service improvement. We have a strong culture of facilitating staff development and post holders can expect to receive regular mentoring and support from clinical specialists and clinical leads alongside in-house training and education. The ABUHB Physiotherapy Service encourages staff development through local and Health Board wide education including extensive core and advanced skills training programmes. We also encourage participation in speciality forums, clinical audit, research and clinical supervision.

As a band 6 physiotherapist at YYF you will be responsible for managing a busy caseload of patients independently as well as participating in weekly support clinics. This model allows staff to assess and treat patients in a supportive and collaborative environment with experienced clinical specialists and injection therapists. The post holder may also have the opportunity to work within hydrotherapy and take group-based exercise as the department boasts an on-site hydrotherapy pool, a well-proportioned gym, and a therapy garden. YYF is located in Ystrad Mynach and has excellent transport links for staff based in Cardiff, Caerphilly and the surround regions.

Main duties of the job

Based in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr outpatient physiotherapy department, we are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking clinician to join our team. You will embrace the Health Board values, have excellent communication skills and a strong team working ethos, as well as the ability to demonstrate leadership qualities.

We are looking for a physiotherapist who possesses a solid foundation in core clinical skills in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, who embraces innovation and is committed to utilising shared decision making and following evidence base in their clinical practice.

We have a structured personal appraisal system with annual reviews underpinned by the Knowledge and Skills Framework. You will be actively involved in assisting in the education and mentoring of rotational staff and physiotherapy students on placement from Cardiff University.

The post holder will work closely with the administrative team and alongside colleagues in Neurology Outpatients, Pelvic Health, and Rheumatology.
