Job summary
The Urology Department at the University Hospital of Wales are recruiting a part-time Medical Secretary to join our experienced team.
The successful applicants should have a proactive and friendly attitude and be able to demonstrate excellent secretarial experience and skills and be able to meet the main duties of the role.
Applicants should be highly organised, efficient and have the ability to prioritise their own workload.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job will include the typing of clinical correspondence related to clinics, in-patient stays and out-patient procedures.
Using Excel you will ensure that all follow-up actions are carried out and be proactive in chasing outcomes.
Answering queries via telephone and email within the remit of the role and/or passing queries on to relevant member of staff.
In-patient waiting list management.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Day to day management of Consultant diary and theatre lists.
- Arranging elective admissions/pre-admission clinics.
- Acts as first point of contact for enquiries from patients, relatives, GP's and other healthcare professionals.
- Makes appointments for Consultant with colleagues, patients, relatives, pharmaceutical companies etc. and reminds Consultant of daily commitments.
