An exciting development opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Research Manager to lead our Haemostasis & Thrombosis research team within the Bleeding Disorder Network for Wales Excellent communication and people management skills are essential with the ability to inspire a team to reach its potential.
The Haemophilia Centre is the only Comprehensive Care Centre in Wales, aiming to deliver lifespan multi-disciplinary, patient-centred care for all patients with inherited bleeding disorders (IBD) and their families. The Centre is enrolled in multi-centre national and international clinical trials.
The clinical trial portfolio includes both commercial and non-commercial observational and drug intervention studies, including the investigation of new treatments for the management of patients with Haemophilia, inherited and acquired bleeding disorders and platelet disorders. Additionally, new studies are due to open investigating the treatment and prevention of venous thrombosis, development of new anticoagulants and management of anticoagulant associated bleeding.
Potential applicants should have significant research delivery experience within IBD and the ability to provide specialist clinical expertise and leadership, whilst delivering high standards
of care facilitating development of the service in Cardiff and equitable access to trials any treatment choices across the Network.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide strong leadership, oversight and operational management to the research team, delivering high quality, safe and effective research. They will work collaboratively with the adult and paediatric CNS nursing teams, wider MDT, Swansea colleagues and Haematology Directorate, building effective relationships and motivating others to achieve service excellence.
Leading on specific projects determined by Haematology R&D leads, providing oversight of the clinical board's research portfolio, working with R&D Leads and Investigators (CIs/PIs) in relation to commercial and non-commercial research projects.
Providing an important link between R&D, Support and Delivery teams and Investigators within the clinical board providing specialist R&D knowledge and expertise guiding Investigators through the national and local R&D framework.
Performance and studies management will be supported from early application to close down providing solutions to financial and other resource issues, enabling research project delivery in line with strategic aims, working with local Research Delivery and R&D teams in meeting HCRW performance targets.
The post holder will be expected to be proactive in healthcare professional education about clinical trials, prepare research reports, audits, SOP's and updates for local and national meetings as required. Requisition and dispensing of Investigational Medicinal Products in accordance with study specific protocols and UHB policy.
