We have an exciting opportunity for newly qualified nurses to become part of the innovative medical unit nursing team. The medical unit comprises of 3 wards; Island and Jungle have the ability to care for up to 35 patients with a wide range of conditions such as; respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrine, neurology and mental health. Our 8-bed cardiac and renal unit specialises in patients requiring support for cardiac conditions and renal complaints as well as providing perioneal dialysis to patients who require it. We are fully committed to the care we deliver and have a strong work ethic. We provide the consolidation space a newly qualified staff nurse requires to gain the confidence and skills in this new role within a supportive team and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based care to children, young people and their families. Newly qualified staff will have a 6-week supernumerary period to include a Child Health induction programme along with medicine specific study days such as tracheostomy care and long-term non-invasive ventilation. You will be enrolled onto the UHB's preceptorship programme, to include medicine management, wound care, catheterisation and more, and your development will be supported by the practice educator and other senior members of the team. We support extended roles such as Practice Educators, Advanced Nurse Practitioners as well as a variety of Clinical Nurse Specialists.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and for the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direction and supervision. Applicants will demonstrate and supervise practice and procedures to registered and unregistered nursing staff to secure effective nursing practice and at all times be aware of and practice within the NMC Code of Conduct. Applicants will participate as an active member of the nursing and multi- disciplinary teams, be accountable for your practice and work in partnership with other health care professionals, children/patient and others in the delivery of care.
