Endoscopy services in Cardiff & Vale are expanding and we are offering exciting opportunities to work in our team.

We service a full range of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy including complex procedures, Bowel Screening Wales, Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA), also Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy. We are also actively working towards securing accreditation through the Joint Advisory Group (JAG) on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as high-quality gastrointestinal endoscopy service.

Newly qualified staff will receive a supernumerary period to help you adapt to your new ward and role as a registered nurse.

Main duties of the job

Deliver high standards of care to patients before, during and after procedures +/- conscious sedation. Care will be in keeping with the philosophies and operational policies of the Health Board.

Act in such a manner to safeguard the interest of patients in your care.

Follow the nursing process of assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients considering their physical; psychological, social and spiritual needs.

To escalate concerns about a patient's condition/deterioration to the most appropriate professional.

Be aware of the legal requirement concerning the prescribing, control, security and administration of medication.

Ability to delegate tasks to a range of staff. Awareness of Deprivation of Liberty safeguards, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act and the ability to raise safeguarding concerns as appropriate.

Ability to completed observations of patients in your care and ability to recognise deterioration.

Promote a positive image of the UHB at all times, acting as an ambassador/role model for the organisation and the nursing profession.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
