Job summary
To work alongside the established Stroke therapy team to provide comprehensive rehabilitation to individuals who have had a stroke. The therapy team within the Acute Stroke Ward are a cohesive team that work together to improve the outcomes for stroke patients.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Main duties of the job
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced support worker to join our Therapy team within the Acute Stroke Ward at the University Hospital of Wales.
Working as part of a dynamic team comprising of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Dieticians, you will bedelivering early rehabilitation programmes to patients within the acute stroke ward and across the stroke pathway at the University Hospital of Wales.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate an interest in rehabilitation. Excellent communication skills are key in this newly developed role. It is important that you are a team player with a positive outlook, enthusiasm and ability to learn and develop new skills. Previous experience in rehabilitation in the acute hospital setting would be advantageous.
The post holder will be required to work a 7 day job plan to support the delivery of a 7 day therapy service to the Acute Stroke Ward.
