Job summary
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated data analyst to join the pharmacy department at Cardiff and Vale UHB.
The Principal Analyst will have a UHB wide role in the promotion, use, and provide business analysis / analytical analysis of pharmacy and medicines related clinical, performance and quality data. The post holder will be a key member of the Pharmacy Informatics Team and will be responsible for the production and development of high-quality intelligence to support decision making on a UHB, Clinical Board and Team basis to improve quality.
The post holder will have highly developed and specialist technical knowledge of various information systems and business intelligence solution. This knowledge will enable the post holder to lead on a range of digital initiatives in Pharmacy and Medicines Management. Examples include electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA), pharmacy stock control system, chemocare, Power BI and all current and future systems.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
o Lead the development of data analytics for pharmacy ensuring availability of high quality, accurate information to support the delivery of safe and equitable patient care.
o Develop evaluation methodologies for clinical teams to demonstrate the impact of investment and aid decision-making regarding future resources.
o Provide specialist expertise to support a number of Health Board projects as specified by the Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacy General Manager, ePMA team and Clinical Board Pharmacists, supported through relationship building with cross organisational stakeholders.
o Proactively identify opportunities to continually develop an innovative suite of Power BI reports, analytical tools and products which drive service improvement and high-quality patient care.
o Manage a large and varied portfolio of work consisting of short term ad hoc analytical requests, medium term project work and longer-term service improvement support.
o Be a subject matter expert on pharmacy digital systems and the data provided by these systems such as ePMA and pharmacy stock control system.
o The post-holder will provide vital intelligence to support the ePMA team in continuingly optimise the ePMA system and its use across the UHB.
o Collaborate effectively with BI / analytics teams and colleagues that rely on medicines data to inform workplans. Actively collaborate with and/or direct colleagues to drive forward information requests and system improvements.
