Job summary

Oak, Beech, and Willow are treatment wards currently recruiting 24 Health Care Support Workers to join the Adult Acute Service.

These roles require participation in a full range of shifts, including long days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays. All shifts are organised on a rota and will be confirmed in advance by the Ward Manager.

Successful applicants will join a dedicated multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality care to adults with complex mental health needs across the Cardiff and Vale area.

While the ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, we warmly welcome applications from both Welsh and English speakers.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and have a positive attitude to assist the team in caring for patients with mental illness.

Successful candidates should have excellent communication skills, and the enthusiasm to take forward new approaches and ensure the highest quality of care is delivered

All three treatment wards provide a welcoming, supportive environment staffed by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. Each acute ward is recovery-focused and committed to continually enhancing the patient experience, while also prioritising staff development through ongoing training and support. Previous experience in an acute setting is desirable but not essential, as full training and comprehensive support will be provided.

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • Ability to be able to complete certified /accredited physical intervention training, for example Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) during induction.

  • Good communication skills - verbal, non-verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and sensitively.
