Job summary
A very exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Specialist Nurse at the Prosthetic and Amputee Rehabilitation Centre (PARC), part of the Artificial Limb and Appliance Service (ALAS) within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Working alongside the current band 7 clinical nurse specialist the post holder will provide highly specialist nursing care, advice and interventions for patients who have had a major limb amputation.
This isa great opportunity to work within a highly professional multidisciplinary team, and with an interesting and diverse patient group. We would welcome applicants who are passionate about improving patient care, fostering good working relationships within the team and working across organisational boundaries.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The nurse will be a key member of the PARC multi-disciplinary team consisting of medical doctors, allied health professionalsand support staff. The ability and willingness to work closely with the whole team is crucial to the delivery of specialist patient care.
The post holder will be required to work independently when providing nursing care and interventions, this will include specialised wound care, patient assessment and patient consultations both pre and post amputation.
The ability to work flexibly and according to the needs of the team is essential.
The successful applicant will be required to work closely with local and regional networks including the South East Wales Vascular Network, the Major Trauma Network, and other allied healthcare professionals. This will include both inpatient teams as well as community teams, and the ability to travel to sites within South East Wales is required.
