Job summary

Are you a visionary leader with a passion for making a difference? Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a dynamic Head of Charity to drive our charitable strategy, lead fundraising, and inspire a culture of innovation.

The Head of Charity is responsible for the vision, strategic leadership, and delivery of all functions related to charitable income generation for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. This senior role oversees all aspects of the Health Charity's operations, with a prime focus on leading fundraising to drive optimum performance. Currently there are over 90 charities that operate within or are associated with the Cardiff and Vale Health Boards remit, this role will be key in aligning and co ordinating the work of these stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for the population. The postholder will operate independently, aligning annual plans and delivery to meet strategic needs, managing departmental functions, interpreting organisational policies, and ensuring compliance with all legal frameworks.

A key focus is driving donor-centric partnerships, providing exceptional supporter experiences, and building strong stakeholder relationships. The Head of Charity acts as a dedicated ambassador for the Health Board, committed to transforming patient care through a business-minded and innovative approach to development.

Main duties of the job

  • Evidence of achieving high fundraising performance, across a number of fundraising streams, in a charity, university or other relevant setting.
  • Evidence of delivery against stretching fundraising targets.
