An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Practitioner Psychologist (Band 8b) to provide expert professional and clinical services to the Regional Vascular Medicine Hub/Service The Service is provided at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. The post is full-time 1.0WTE, 37.5 hours per week.
It is essential for this post to hold a Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent), to be a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling), and be eligible for Chartered Psychologist status with the BPS. Knowledge and experience of applying psychology in medical settings is essential.
This is an exciting time to join Cardiff & Vale UHB as there is a growing Clinical Health Psychology and Neuropsychology specialty. There is an active professional network for clinical psychologists in South Wales and you would be able to develop your professional, supervisory and clinical skills via CPD opportunities
Main duties of the job
Post-holders will be responsible for all elements of the psychological aspects related to the Vascular Medicine Hub/Service. This includes direct clinical work, designing assessments and interventions, leading psychological care in this setting, service development/ improvement, work with our multidisciplinary staff, supervision/consultancy, staff management, education and research/audit.
The Regional Vascular Medicine Hub/Services are complex, fast moving and progressive areas with a number of future developments in the planning stages. The Service actively supports initiatives to improve psychological care, well-being and mental health for patients, relatives and staff.
Working closely with the relevant Lead Consultant Practitioner Psychologist and the Head of Specialty, the post holder will lead the development of excellence in psychological care for those using the Regional Vascular Medicine Hub/Service . The post holder would be expected to collaborate with others to create clear clinical pathways to ensure all involved have access to appropriate services. The post holder will act as an advisor on psychological care in this medical area. The post holder may have a delegated role in managing the other psychology posts within the Service and wider in collaboration with the relevant Consultant Lead and Head of Specialty.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; however Welsh or English language speakers are equally welcome to apply.
