Paediatric Emergency Department - Staff Nurse

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic Registered Sick Children's Nurse, with a passion to make a difference, to join the Paediatric Emergency Department at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) as a Senior Staff Nurse. The Emergency Unit at the University Hospital of Wales assesses over 150,000 patients a year. The Paediatric Emergency Department provides care for acutely unwell and injured children.As the only Paediatric Major Trauma Centre in Wales, patients attend from across the South Wales Major Trauma Network. This exciting development allows staff to be exposed to all types of major trauma and training associated with this.

Main duties of the job

The Paediatric Emergency Unit is a challenging but rewarding environment with opportunities to develop and extend the knowledge and skills required to care for Paediatric patients with a wide range of surgical, medical and trauma conditions.As part of our transformative work we have opened a Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) to support those patients that require a short stay for additional care but don't require admission to the hospital.

Applications are welcomed from qualified Registered Children's Nurses who have an interest in Emergency Medicine.

You will require excellent communication and clinical skills and show passion and enthusiasm for working in Emergency Medicine.
