Cardiac Theatre Assistant

Job summary

We are looking for 2 Theatre assistants who will thrive in a fast-paced operating theatre environment. The successful candidates will be supporting all stages of the patients journey through theatre and will be an asset to supporting the theatre team.

Prior experience is not essential but a love for operating theatres is. All training will be provided. This role will provide the successful candidates with a work life balance as this theatre suite currently runs Monday to Friday and an on-call out of hours service.

As a Theatre Assistant you will provide assistance to all members of the Theatre team by supporting the registered staff in activities undertaken in the Operating Theatre environment. As a Theatre Assistant you will contribute as part of the Operating Theatre team to deliver and maintain high standards of patient care and will maintain cleanliness inside the theatre operating suite and the ancillary areas.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will contribute as part of the Theatre team to maintain high standard of cleanliness in Theatre and ancillary areas with special reference to policies specified by the UHB Infection Control Committee and UHB Health and Safety Committee. This will include cleaning theatre between cases and also doing a thorough clean on completion of the day's sessions. You will also provide assistance as a circulating member of the Theatre team i.e. Assisting the scrub practitioner and undertaking duties under the direction of the practitioner in charge of the theatre to include, collection and opening of trays, partaking in swab counts, checking, weighing and recording , swabs, needles and instruments.
