Blood Transfusion Quality Manager (Band 7) An opportunity has arisen for the Blood transfusion Manager to join the dynamic evolving team within Cardiff and Vale Health Board's Haematology departmentThe department is looking for a Biomedical Scientist (Registrar with the HCPC) by IBMS Certificate of Competency (or pre-2004 equivalent) and an appropriate postgraduate qualification. The laboratory is accredited by UKAS ISO15189:2022 and is an approved training laboratory (by the IBMS). Training and development opportunities are available and all staff are encouraged to engage in continuing professional development.Previous experience in the NHS is essential.
The ability to speak Welsh is ideal for this job; Welsh speakers and/or candidates are welcome
Main duties of the job
The Quality Manager will have delegated responsibility for the implementation, maintenance and development of the Blood Transfusion Quality Management System (QMS). This role includes training, supervising and supporting the Quality Officer and Quality Leads within specialist areas of Blood Transfusion service. They are also vital to effective clinical governance and risk management of that service.
They will facilitate the daily operation of the QMS to ensure compliance with current national legislation, regulations and accreditation systems. They will provide and promote training in the QMS and quality assurance, as well as proving advice on clinical governance and risk management. The post holder will take the lead role in co-ordinating the BSQR 2005 (Blood safety and Quality Regaulation) , SABRE/SHOT (Serious Adverse Blood Reactions and Events/Serious Hazards of Transfusion reports to MHRA. They are responsible for blood transfusion service regulatory and accreditation reports such as submission of the annual United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) application as well as other Health Board/Department of Health quality requirements.
