We are currently recruiting for 2 Fixed Term Appointment for Service Foundation Year 1 Doctors to join the University Hospital of Wales & University Hospital Llandough.
The successful candidates will take part in a full shift on call rota (on call banded), and it is essential that applicants must be familiar with the UK healthcare system.
You will need to have full GMC Registration with a licence to practice to be considered for this role .
Computer literacy and a good standard of written and spoken English are both essential.
Main duties of the job
Successful individuals will join the following rotation/s and please indicate on which post you are interested in.
Post 1:
- Respiratory Medicine - 03/12/2025 until 31/03/2026
- General Surgery (HBP Surgery) - 01/04/2026 until 04/08/2026
Post 2:
- Trauma & Orthopaedics - 06/08/2025 until 02/12/2025
- Geriatric Medicine - 03/12/2025 until 31/03/2026
- Vascualr Surgery - 01/04/2026 until 04/08/2026

- Day to day management of medical inpatients.
- Manage time and clinical priorities effectively
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues
- Participation in the on call rota and to provide cover in exceptional circumstances for colleagues absence.
- Assessment, care and treatment of patients presenting to the specialty and referred to the speciality.
- Participation in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.
- Abide by the Clinical & Corporate Governance policies of the Trust.
- To make sure that the guidance from the General Medical Council on Good Medical Practice is at the centre of your clinical practice.
- Keep clinical knowledge up to date by continuous medical education in the best interest of the patient.
- Although a timetable will be provided, you will be expected to be flexible, in the interests of patient care and to meet the needs of the department as decided by the general manager and coordinating surgeon manner at all time
- Other duties to be outlined with consultants/SPR's

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full registration with GMC Registration
- The applicant must not have already successfully completed an F1 year and received a Foundation Programme Certificate of Completion (F1CC) or equivalent
Desirable
- The applicant has attained additional relevant qualifications e.g. ILS, ALS, ALERT.
Clinical Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- The applicant must be of good standing and fit to practise medicine safely in accordance with GMC's Good Medical Practice
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Understands the importance and impact of information systems in health care.
