Ophthalmology Deputy Directorate/Regional Manager Cataracts

Job summary

The post holder is a key member of the Directorate Management Team and will provide expertise and deputise for the Ophthalmology Directorate/General Manager. They will be expected to provide expertise and manage services within the directorate to ensure they are delivered effectively and efficiently in line with divisional strategic and operational objectives and policy.

The post holder will provide leadership in conjunction with the Clinical Leads and Directorate/General Manager. They will work closely with the Ophthalmology Directorate Manager, and Regional Team as well as Clinical Director and Lead Nurses to achieve objectives and will be expected to make a positive contribution to the delivery of ophthalmic services across the Health Board and SE Wales Region. The post holder will be the lead for cataract services for the Health Board.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible and accountable, in conjunction with the Clinical Leads and the Ophthalmology Directorate/General Manager, for the operational management of patient services within the ophthalmology regional unit atUHL and UHW as necessary. This involves thedelivery of high quality services, to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary setting, holding self and colleagues to account appropriately and demonstrating personal commitment to integrated leadership. Provide services within the agreed financial resources and achieve financial targets, including cost efficiency savings, ensuring maximum value in terms of clinical and cost effectiveness. Adhere to operational performance targets, including access and cancer targets.
