Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our antimicrobial pharmacy team. Our focus is on improving patient care and clinical outcomes by supporting the optimisation of antimicrobial prescribing across CAVUHB. You will work closely with the Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist and Microbiologists from Public Health Wales to promote excellent antimicrobial stewardship and demonstrate clinical and cost-effective quality improvements within this area.
Your professionalism, excellent inter-personal skills and passion for antimicrobial stewardship, will equip you to be a valued contributor to our service and to develop to be a key member of our antimicrobial pharmacy team.
We will support your advanced practice and leadership development by providing access to recognised training and other structured opportunities to challenge and enable you to enhance your clinical role and management skills.
The post holder will be required to work at both the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and the University Hospital Llandough.
Main duties of the job
Work closely with Consultant Microbiologists to deliver antimicrobial stewardship ward rounds across both sites (UHW and UHL).
Provision of highly specialist advice to a range of healthcare professionals on infection management and the safe and effective use of antimicrobials.
Antimicrobial guideline development and review, formulary applications for new antimicrobial agents.
Provision of antimicrobial education sessions for a range of health care professionals including the training and development of less experienced pharmacy team members.
Leading and coordinating antimicrobial prescribing audits
Deputise for Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist, when required.
