We are excited to offer two rotational Band 5 posts and theopportunity to join our strong and innovative Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team.
We are looking for SLTs who have the confidence to thrive on the variety and fast pace of working on rotations in key areas of our service: Stroke, Head and Neck Cancer, Mental Health and Outpatients. Rotations will be offerred according to experience and clinical interest.
You will be an innovative thinker, enthusiastic, able to work autonomously and as part of a team.You should have experience in communication assessment and therapy and have an interest in dysphagia assessment & management and be keen to develop VF and FEES skills. In return, we will support you to develop key personal, clinical and leadership skills that will form an excellent base for your career.
There is a strong ethos of clinical, research and professional support including monthly journal clubs, innovation & coproduction workshops, clinical peer support and well-being events. CAVUHB SLT Service is also fortunate to be able to offer many opportunities for shadowing and CPD in more specialist and tertiary services including Critical Care, Major Trauma, Neuro Oncology/Neuro Surger/ Neuropsychiatry, Brain Injury, SLT led Dementia Diagnosis clinics and Memory Team etc to support holistic learning and career interests

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide speech and language therapy intervention to a caseload of adults with a range of communication disorders & swallowing difficulties as appropriate.This is a rotational post, where rotations will be based on clinical interest and experience. Staff will move between defined areas of work within the following specialties: Stroke, Head & Neck Cancer, Mental Health and Outpatients services. Patients will be seen at various sites across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The post holder will participate in best practice initiatives, provide observation placements for SLT students, undertake teaching/training of other professions, participate in the training of others, and supervise SLT students, assistants, and volunteers.
Training and support will be provided across rotations to facilitate skill development and CPD is positively encouraged.
