Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse team at Cardiff and Vale UHB. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to join the nursing team to provide individualised diabetes care to children and young people 0-17 years, and their families. This post offers a unique opportunity to be part of a friendly and dynamic multidisciplinary team, delivering the highest possible diabetes care, to a diverse caseload across Cardiff and the Vale.

Main duties of the job

Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential to this role. A commitment to education is crucial to ensure the service is up to date in current developments in the care and management of children and young people with diabetes. The successful candidate will manage a case load of children and young people with all forms of diabetes through to transition to the adult services. Routine responsibilities will include working at times without direct supervision, providing education and developing and advancing paediatric diabetes nursing practice across various care settings. You will need to demonstrate a practical, forward thinking approach to lead in service development and evaluation and the ability to work well within a team. Working as a skilled practitioner you will act as a source of specialist knowledge to support colleagues across primary and secondary care settings.
