Job summary
The Department of Medical Biochemistry, Immunology & Toxicology are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated Laboratory Technical Officer (Band 3) to join our team of laboratory staff. The vacancy is within our Endocrine section.
The Medical Biochemistry Immunology & Toxicology Laboratories provide a diagnostic service for Cardiff and the Vale patients and beyond.
Support will be provided to individuals to develop skills and knowledge of the appropriate sections of the laboratory. In return we expect a commitment to deliver against high standards within our Quality Management System.

Main duties of the job
The purpose of the role is to assist Scientific staff within the Departments of Medical Biochemistry, & Immunology to provide a quality analytical service, while working as part of a team undertaking analysis of biological samples.
This will include:
- Preparation and analysis of samples of biological samples
- Basic instrument maintenance and quality checking of processes
- Clerical support to the laboratory staff.
The duties are wide ranging including, technical clinical and general administration duties under both direct and indirect supervision by Biomedical Scientist - which may be cross site.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
