Fixed Term Service Appointment Specialty Registrar ST5+ inVascular Surgery
A Vacancy has arisen for a Fixed Term Service AppointmentSpecialty Registrar (Higher level ST5+ and above based at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board within the General Surgery Department for a Vascular Rotation .
This post is available from as soon as possible and is for 1 year.
Main duties of the job
The Cardiff Regional Vascular Unit provides diagnosis and treatment for arterial, venous and lymphatic diseases (circulation and fluid carrying systems)
Diagnosis and treatment of conditions caused by peripheral arterial insufficiency
Risk factor modification and exercise programs.
Diagnosis and treatment of aneurismal disease.
Surgery for the prevention of stroke.
Endovascular treatments.
Varicose vein management.
Management of venous disorders.
Treatment of thoracic outlet syndrome.
Sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis / facial flushing.
Diagnosis and treatment of Raynaud's phenomenon.
Diagnosis and treatment of lymphoedema.
In-hospital assessment of vascular conditions.
Treatment of vascular surgical emergencies.

- MBBS or equivalent Medical Qualification
- Completion of MRCS
- Validate log book documentation of surgical exposure to date
- Ability to prioritise clinical need
- Shows realistic Insight into Vascular Surgery and the personal demands to Surgery
- Awarness of own limitations and when to ask for help
Desirable
- Achievements relevant to Vascular Surgery including elective or other experience
- Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements, e.g degrees, prizes awards
- Evidence of knowledge of the principles of audit and skills in audit
