Job summary
Are you a Band 6 paediatric Dietitian with diabetes experience looking for your next career move or a Band 7 Dietitian looking for a new challenge in a busy and dynamic specialist centre?
The post holder will work closely with the wider paediatric diabetes multi-disciplinary team (MDT) supporting children and young people and their families to manage their diabetes. The post holder will provide structured education to those newly diagnosed both in the inpatient and outpatient setting and provide ongoing support to promote self-management via dedicated MDT clinics and individual dietetic appointments. The caseload will include all types of diabetes. The post holder will lead on the planning, co-ordinating, developing, delivering and evaluating of group education sessions. They will provide education sessions on HCL pump therapy, advances in technology, and a lead source of knowledge and expertise in the paediatric diabetes MDT providing training to colleagues and support to staff from external agencies such as education or social care.
Main duties of the job
The post will be based at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, the site of the Children's Hospital for Wales.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, and a practical, forward-thinking approach to service development and evaluation. Motivational interviewing skills are desirable to work within this specialty.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the on-call rota to support continuity of services over weekends and Public Holidays.
