Job summary

An exciting opportunity exists for a conscientious, motivated and innovative speech and language therapist to work within the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Children's Speech and Language Therapy service. We require enthusiastic and positive practitioners who are pro-active and have a 'can do approach'.

The post holder will be working as part of a dynamic team of Speech and Language Therapists in mainstream schools, a specialist resource base and hold a specialist caseload for children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs, with a focus on developmental speech and language disorders.

You will work closely with families, teaching staff and specialist teachers to support the needs of children and young people in primary and secondary education across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients using advanced clinical reasoning skillsin order to diagnose speech, language and communication difficulties and to formulate and deliver individual treatment programmes.

The post holder will support parents, carers, and school staff in the child's environment to facilitate and enhance the child's communication development and environment.

The post holder will contribute to the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) process, including the completion of statutory ALN requests and attendance at person-centred planning meetings for the development and review of Individual Development Plans.

The post holder will contribute to the ongoing development of the mainstream schools and wider Speech and Language Therapy service.

The post holder will offer supervision to Band 5 SLT's and Band 4 Speech and Language Technical Instructors as well as providing placements toSpeech and Language Therapy Students.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
