Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales for a Band 6 Nurse on Gwdihw Ward. The ward provides care for children requiring pre and post operative surgery from within the Cardiff and Vale locality alongside tertiary surgery for children under multiple specialities. We are also the major trauma centre for Wales.

You will be expected to have current and up-to-date clinical knowledge and experience and be able to demonstrate an ability to lead, facilitate and develop learning in clinical practice.

To be successful you will need to have:

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, experienced Paediatric nurse who is willing to learn new skills to join and help lead our team.

Gwdihw/Owl ward is the only tertiary surgical centre in Wales, providing innovative surgical care to children aged 0 - 16 years. We care for children requiring surgery for most specialities including: general surgery, orthopaedics, trauma, spinal, neurosurgery, ENT and ophthalmology. We provide both emergency and elective surgery and are the major trauma centre for Wales.

The post involves leadership with an expectation of taking on a small team within the wider ward team to help develop and teach, link roles within your scope of interest to teach and share knowledge with the wider team.

The post holder will be motivated and enthusiastic about nursing a wide variety of patients with interest in development of the nursing team. You will work closely with the Ward Manager, Senior Nurse team, Multidisciplinary team and the Practice Educator within the ward and the wider Noah's Ark Children's Hospital.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
