Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Registered Nurse in Learning Disability (RNLD) to join the developing CALDS (Child and Adolescent Learning Disability Service) which is a community based team within the Children, Young People (CYP) and Family Health Service.
This individual will be based with CALDS, liaising into hospital settings as the LD Liaison nurse. They will also hold a small caseload of community based work supporting with access to health care.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a forward thinking RNLD who have in-depth knowledge of factors effecting the health and wellbeing of people with LD, reasonable adjustments that may be required, behaviours that are challenging and complex needs, along with an interest in supporting the development and improvement of the service.
The post holder will have the ability to support CYP and their families; delivering good quality, individualised and evidenced based care. Roles will include close liaison with families and hospital staff in supporting acute appointments, supporting access to healthcare, Positive Behaviour Support within the home and health care environment, supporting the delivery of workshops to CYP and their families, supporting and delivering training to family / carers and professionals whilst offering professional support in relation to CYP with LD.
The successful candidate will be motivated, forward thinking, enthusiastic and committed tochildren's rights andbecoming involved in all aspects of theCYP'shealthcare. The post holderwill have the skills toworkin groups and as an individual, be confident to work within their competencies and be able to adapt to the changing needs of the service.Specific professional developmentneeds willbesupportedand the successful candidateswill attend regular clinical supervision sessionsprovided.

CALDS is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, community based, specialist service; working closely with the MDT including Nursing, Psychology, Psychiatry, PBS Practitioner, Graduate Mental Health Workers, and OT working within the Positive Behaviour Support Framework. This specialist service aims to develop co-ordinated and accessible care to CYP with a Learning Disability, their families and carers.
