Job summary
We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Dental Nurse Manager based in University Dental Hospital (UDH) within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
This is a full-time post.
Working closely with the Senior Management Team and University colleagues, you will provide expert professional advice, leading areas of work involving patient safety and experience and service redesign, whilst providing strong leadership to the senior nursing leadership team within Dental Directorate.
The post-holder will be a visible and compassionate leader, acting as a role model for best practice, providing both operational and leadership, clinical advice, and support for staff in relation to all aspects of Dental nursing.
The post-holder will have an excellent understanding of the national professional Dental nursing agenda and will raise the profile of Dental nursing within Dental Directorate and wider organisation.
The University Dental Hospital (UDH) is the only dental teaching unit within Wales. The Hospital functions, primarily is to teach the future dental workforce for Wales which includes under-graduate 5-year British Dental Society course in dentistry along with providing training for dental therapist, nurses and hygiene students and post graduate training.
C&VUHB is the NHS dental service which runs like most other hospital specialties providing outpatient, day case and inpatient care to the population of Cardiff and Vale.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the recruitment, induction, and personal development of all qualified dental nurses.
Responsible for the maintenance of appropriate skill mix with regard to clinical needs, training requirements and new developments.
To liaise with Clinical Leads and Clinical Director(s) to ensure that agreed levels and standards of service are provided.
To be responsible for managing Dental Nurses within the Directorate. Themanagement of the Dental Nurse budget ensuring that the expenditure reflects the appropriate staff in post, salaries and monthly changes and training expenditure.
To ensure the directorate processes comply with the Health Boards compliance, Health and Safety and Risk Management Frameworks in order to reduce unnecessary costs, financial liabilities, and improve patient and staff safety.
To support the implementation of Health Boards Strategies and policies at Directorate level, e.g. Clinical Governance Framework.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
