We are proud to present and to share the opportunities for Registered nurses to join the National, Specialist Rehabilitation Centre based within Cardiff and Vale UHB, University of Llandough. Our services provide Specialist Spinal Rehabilitation on ward West 10 and Specialist Neurological Rehabilitation on West 10. Our units provide complex multi-disciplinary rehabilitation to patients who have suffered either a significant spinal injury or following an acquired brain injury. Registered nurses who join us will be supported to become competent in all areas of specialist rehabilitation including tracheostomy care and bowel and bladder care among others.

We work hard to achieve the best outcomes for our patients and standards of care are maintained through audit and governance. We are supported by a Professional and Practice Development Nurse along with a Practice Educator. There is an educational programme and an induction process for all new staff who start with us along with further educational opportunities if required.

West 8 has a maximum capacity of 26 patients and West 10 of 22. We work closely with other allied health professional to ensure that our patients and their families receive care that is tailor made to their needs. Both units are very rewarding and we are privilege to support our patients to adapt to new ways of life following a life changing injury.

Main duties of the job

We provide highly specialised care for a wide variety of patient groups within the neurosciences directorate. Staff in this friendly and supportive team develop a wide range of advanced skills and knowledge within the 4 main areas of B4 Neurosurgery and C4 Neurology within UHW and West 8 Spinal Rehab and West 10 Neuro Rehab UHL.

Within these areas we care for and deliver treatment to patients with neurological disorders, including patients who require emergency care, elective surgery and routine investigations.

There may also be opportunities to work within the Neurology, Neuro rehabilitation and Spinal rehabilitation.
