Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced sonographer to join our departments at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest NHS organisations in the UK. We have a responsibility for the promotion of health and wellbeing of people living in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

The health board delivers a comprehensive range of sonography services including obstetrics, gynae, general, vascular, small parts, paediatrics and musculoskeletal ultrasound.

The health board has fully integrated RIS / PACS. A digital dictation system is used for on line reporting.

The ultrasound department provides the use of up-to-date equipment.

The successful candidate will be based at the University Hospital Llandough, with rotation to the University Hospital of Wales.

Main duties of the job

As a band 7 sonographer you will be expected to produce high quality diagnostic images and reports.

Good organisational and communication skills are essential to ensure a safe and efficient workflow and provide a high quality service to patients and colleagues.

A commitment to clinical teaching and audit will be expected, to develop the team and department.

Continuous professional development is actively encouraged.

All applicants must be registered with the HCPC and hold a DMU or PG diploma in medical ultrasound.
