THIS IS A FIXED TERM POST UTNTIL 31/03/2025 WITH A POSSIBLE EXTENSION, BASED ON PROJECT TIMELINES.

We have an excellent opportunity for a skilled IT Senior Support Engineer . This post will support the development and roll out of ePMA application for Pharmacy and support of Pharmacy users. The role will suit someone with a strong technical knowledge of hardware, who will support the Pharmacy Department in preparing a range of equipment for Cardiff And Vale UHB users.

You'll lead a team of IT Support Officers and analysts, taking responsibility for delivering a high-quality IT and application service to the health board, helping train and develop your team members, and continually looking for ways to improve and enhance the technologies offered.

The post holder will be required to be an active member of the Service Desk Support Team responsible for investigating complex IT issues acrossthe Health Board, providing an effective second-line support function on the desktop infrastructure of the Health Board

The successful candidate will need to be able to learn new systems quickly and be able to adapt to new technologies as they are introduced bythe service. Knowledge of Pharmacy applications will be an advantage

Main duties of the job

This post is for a technically experienced IT Senior Support Engineer specialist with proven sufficient skill sets and experience to assist with the implementation and support of Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA).

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day technical management of the system, troubleshooting complex problems and errors, and liaising with the supplier around functionality issues. They will develop Standard Operating Procedures and Technical Support documents, adhere to meticulous change control processes and communicate changes in system functionality to the Pharmacy Directorate Manager and the Clinical Board Users.

To participate in the departments rota covering office hours, early mornings, evenings, weekend working, Bank Holiday rota and on-call duties. The emergency on-call duty presents unpredictable, frequent, urgent calls for advice and application support.

Provide assistance or training to users and ensure the smooth operation of ePMA pharmacy application. Possess excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. They must be capable of working under pressure and have the ability to work effectively in a team setting in order to maintain a high standard of service. Previous experience in a professional services environment performing application support, would be an advantage.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
