Job summary
Applications are invited for a Youth Worker who will advocate for the needs and rights of young adult patients (15-25 years old) within Kidney Services in South East Wales, based at University Hospital of Wales.
The post holder will work as part of a large multidisciplinary team within the Nephrology and Transplant services to deliver a supportive youth work service designed specifically around the needs of children, young people and young adults with kidney disease.
The post holder will be exposed to all aspects within renal medicine, including renal replacement therapy (haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, renal transplantation) and various sub-specialities within the field of renal.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will effectively deliver youth support to young adults within the Adult Nephrology and Transplant Service, including those teenagers requiring support whilst in the transitioning processes aged 15+. The position will require the ability to work unsupervised and exercise initiative in the co-ordination of their duties. This will include the development of youth work services within the service through identified project aims. The post holder will provide a wide range of appropriate recreational activities to enable young people to develop cognitive, social and emotional skills throughout the service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
