Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Neurologist with sub-specialty interest within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
A motivated and enthusiastic colleague is required to join the current team of 14 Consultant Neurologists and candidates with a sub-specialty interest are encouraged - interests in neuromuscular disease or movement disorders in particular although all other areas will be considered.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £91,722 per annum to £119,079 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards. Consultants in Wales paid on one of the first three points of the substantive Consultant pay scale also receive a Wales recruitment incentive payment.
Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
Main duties of the job
The Department of Neurology provides adult clinical neurology services for Cardiff and Vale & Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Boards and tertiary services for South East Wales.
The post holder will be expected to provide medical support to the in-patients on the Neurology Ward at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, run weekly outpatient clinics across both sites, and take part in the out-of-hours on-call rota.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine will be expected.
