Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious, motivated and hard-working individual to apply for a registered nurse position within the Department of Sexual Health.

The Department of Sexual Health is part of the Primary, Community and Intermediate Care Clinical Board of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The focus of the department is to provide sexual healthcare incorporating the screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, contraception, HIV care and health promotion to the population which includes a large student cohort.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious, motivated and hardworking individual to apply for the position of Band 5 Nurse within the Department of Sexual Health.

The Department of Sexual Health is part of the Primary, Community and Intermediate Care Clinical Board of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The focus of the department is to provide sexual healthcare incorporating the screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, contraception, HIV care and health promotion to the population which includes a large student cohort.

The role requires someone who is flexible to the service and has enhanced communication skills. Duties will include the testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections and blood borne viruses; venepuncture; vaccinations; cervical cytology; contraception; providing pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV (PREP) and post exposure prophylaxis for HIV (PEPSE); supervising student nurses and midwives. The successful applicant will work in clinics based in Cardiff Royal Infirmary as well as Community clinics across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

In house training will be provided and the post holder will be expected to complete the Sexually transmitted Foundation Course (STIF) and the Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH).

At least 1-year post registration experience is desirable for this post.
