Job summary
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board School In-Reach team are looking for a Mental Health Practitioner to join them. School In-reach is a relatively new team of mental health practitioners with different professional backgrounds, working together with schools to support the psychological wellbeing and resilience of young people. They do this through consultation with school staff, support and advice, teaching and direct clinical work. The team is led by a Clinical Lead (Clinical Psychologist) and Team Lead (Occupational Therapy background) who oversee four locality clusters of practitioners providing support across C&V, including to specialist education providers. Senior Mental Health Practitioners from a range of professional backgrounds provide oversight to the schools in their area, supported by dedicated Mental Health Practitioners and Graduate Mental Health Workers. Difference is celebrated within the team through the promotion of a culture of learning together. The team receive regular supervision, reflective practice, formulation conversations and away days for learning together opportunities. Emphasis will be placed on working alongside and in partnership with the local authority schools and other health systems, along with third sector agencies and communities.
Main duties of the job
As a practitioner in the School In-Reach Team, you will:
Support provision of specialist consultation, advice and guidance to primary and secondary education providers
Develop and deliver training for education providers (online and in-person)
Provide assessment of the emotional health and wellbeing needs of children and young people
Provide direct therapeutic intervention to children and young people (group delivery and one-to-one)
Supervise and provide line management for Graduate Mental Health Workers within the team
Contribute to service evaluation and development, including participation in audit and research tasks as they arise across the service.
