Job summary
To take operational responsibility of the delivery of planned care across Trauma, Spinal and Paediatric orthopaedic services within the Trauma and Orthopaedic directorate. Working closely with the Specialty Manager, General Manager and Clinical Director to support services to identify and deliver sustainable solutions in which to deliver tier one access targets, providing high quality, cost effective and efficient planned care services. Identifying areas of opportunity for service improvement and development.
Leadership is a key the component to this role the post holder will be expected to provide strong visible leadership within the service as part of the multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to drive through the delivery of ambitious targets to continually improve performance within the service.
In conjunction with the General Manager, Specialty Manager and Clinical Director provide leadership and direction to the wider team in order to deliver the Trauma, Orthopaedic and Spinal Directorate's Integrated Mid Term Plan (IMTP).
The post holder will provide operational expertise and management support to all members of the directorate team, particularly the Directorate Support Managers. Ensuring the provision of an efficient and sustainable secretarial and administration workforce that is aligned to the needs of the Service
You will be expected to coach, provide direction and be clear about what is expected to be successful in achieving the UHB's vision.
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the day to day management of the administration teams and development of effective team working ensuring adherence to UHB human resource policies and procedures.
- To demonstrate sensitivity, leadership, influencing abilities and change management skills in all areas of personnel management.
- Responsible for the effective day to day operational management of the service (performance management).
- To support the Specialty Manger in the delivery of RTT targets within the Directorate including the development and delivery of capacity schedules. Ensure that systems and processes are in place to prevent breaches of guaranteed waiting times and that the UHB waiting list policies are implemented and monitored effectively. Understand variances against the planned activity of the service, e.g. re-classifications, cancellations, DNA's and assist in the development of plans to make improvements.
- Oversight of the Trauma Service adults and Paediatrics.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
