Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Practitioner Psychologist, looking to join a team of passionate and supportive Psychological Therapists. This post sits within the Interventions Team of the CYP Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Care Group (previously Specialist Camhs). As well as being part of an established group of psychological therapists you will also be part of a wider MDT that value psychological thinking and practice.

The service has undergone much development in recent years. We are committed to compassionate and understanding relationships with young people, families and their communities, so that the right interventions, can be offered in the right way, at the right time.

As a team we are committed to supporting staff to maintain a healthy work-life balance, create a culture of continuous learning and opportunities for staff to develop their skills and interests through training and innovative practice.

As well as providing specialist psychological intervention to young people and their families, this post will involve; care coordination of complex young people and their systems, management and supervision of other team members, consultation and service development.

The successful candidate will have highly developed skills in engaging children, young people and their families experiencing significant distress. They will also be able to work flexibly and creative ways to consider how all aspects of the service is psychologically informed.

Main duties of the job

The post is permanent, and 37.5 hours per week. Part-time hours may be considered. The service also operates a hybrid model of in person and virtual working.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good Honours degree in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the BPS
  • Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology accredited by the HCPC (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 as accredited by the BPS).
  • HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with young people with mental health difficulties in an NHS setting
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan
  • Experience of teaching/training and/or professional and clinical supervision
  • Demonstrable evidence of significant specialist clinical supervision within a scientist-practitioner framework

Skills

Essential

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary settings
  • Ability to plan and organise a range of clinical or service-related activities and programmes
