Job summary

To lead the day to day operational management of the waste department based in the University Hospital of Wales, providing excellent service delivery to both staff, patients and external visitors, acting as first point of contact for the waste areas above and responding accordingly to telephone, email, and face-to-face enquiries as they occur.

Main duties of the job

To manage the operational service delivery of the waste department, allocating tasks to waste collectors clearly and concisely, delegating tasks appropriately and analysing which tasks need to be given priority.

To resolve day-to-day operational issues for the waste departments, using initiatives where possible to identify solutions, and escalate queries or concerns to the Team Manager and Head of facilities, as necessary.

Carry out daily visual checks of the waste yard, compactor, tugs, lighting, etc. to ensure all are fully operational and safe for use and to report any defects to the Team Manager and Head of Facilities accordingly.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
