Cardiff & Vale UHB was commissioned as a CAR-T cell therapy centre for Wales in 2019. These therapies are amongst the first in the pipeline of cell therapies transitioning from 'bench to bedside' for both malignant and non-malignant diseases. They are considered to be highly innovative personalised treatments offering potentially effective therapy with severe but manageable adverse events which require specialised monitoring and management.

A role in teaching will be encouraged and supported, including training of junior medical and nursing staff as well as participation in the education of medical students.
