Job summary
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board are looking to recruit a permanent full time Band 5 dietitians to work at University Hospital of Wales.We are looking for enthusiastic graduates wishing to experience supportive, exciting and varied band 5 career to join our team.
All of our band 5 roles are rotational and we will aim to provide a varied opportunity for you. Each band 5 position incorporates a blend of medical and surgical/specialty case load. Rotations are themed with learning opportunities in gastro, oncology, respiratory, neuro, renal, cardiology, emergency medicine and diabetes.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for:
The day to day management of an adult patient caseload using evidence based patient centred principals to assess, plan, implement and evaluate dietetic interventions for patients and maintain associated records.
Liaising and working in partnership with the relevant care team on a day to day basis i.e. Care home staff, primary care teams, integrated multidisciplinary teams on wards and the dietetic teams in each service.
Supervision of dietetic assistants and pre-registration student dietitians.
Teaching evidence based nutrition to patients, healthcare professionals and care home staff as required.
You will work within a friendly and highly skilled department and have numerous opportunities for professional and personal development. You will be actively involved in the research, audit and the Quality and Safety agenda of the department and UHB. The service is a major provider of pre-registration dietetic education and the successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of training and education.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
