Job summary

We are looking to recruit a senior systemic/family therapist to join our existing team of psychologists and therapists working within the Cardiff and Vale Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Heath (EW&MH) Care Group. We have worked hard over the last few years re-configuring the service from CAMHS, to the broader and more encompassing EW&MH Care Group, to better reflect the spectrum of work provided within the health board in meeting the needs of children and young people with emotional and mental health needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the development and delivery of family based interventions and systemic psychotherapy within the Interventions Team in the EW&MH Care Group for children, young people and families.

The Interventions Team provide multidisciplinary formulation, liaison, consultation and interventions to children, young people and their families and the networks around them. You will work alongside other EW&MH teams (e.g. The assessment team, School's In-Reach team, community intensive therapies team) across all tiers of service provision and be part of a skilled, experienced and passionate team of RMN's, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapies, and support staff.

Main duties of the job

As a systemic psychotherapist/family therapist, you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a caseload, including assessing children, young people and families with complex needs, supporting families with care planning and designing and delivering specialist psychological interventions within children's emotional wellbeing and mental health services.

Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist psychological and therapeutic interventions, systemic assessments and contribute to formulation alongside diagnosis, and the delivery of care where necessary. Care co-ordination, consultation, supervision and supporting other members of the multi-disciplinary team will be key aspects of the role, as well as partnership working with health, education and social care.

While the role will primarily consist of carrying an appropriate clinical caseload, you will join an existing family therapy team who have worked hard to help embed systemic thinking and formulation in the wider MDT, through the use of family therapy training clinics, teaching, training, joint working and consultation.

You will join at an exciting time to also help advise and support the development of family work, and systemic offers of care beyond traditional therapy.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
