Job summary

To provide an administrative and secretarial service within the Clinical Trials Unit, supporting the Haematology Research Admin Manager and Clinical Trials Nurses in the provision of Haematology Clinical Trials activity.

The post holder will have a research data co-ordination remit for the Haematology research portfolio.

To support the Research Admin Manager in ensuring that all clinical trials activity is conducted in accordance with set guidelines and protocols, and that accurate and timely information is available when required.

Assisting the Research Admin Manager in ensuring medical and nursing staff are fully aware of protocols, assisting in amending and updating these as appropriate and cascading the information to the relevant personnel.

Main duties of the job

An exciting full time band 3 opportunity has arisen for an experienced Administrative Assistant to join the Haematology directorate at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. As an experienced administrator, the post holder must have excellent communication skills and experience of using IT systems on a daily basis.

The post holder must be able to use their own initiative but also work as part of a multidisciplinary team in order to provide essential administrative support to the Haematology Clinical Trials team.

The post holder will need to be highly motivated, flexible approach to work and possess good organisational skills, and would benefit from having previous experience of working in a busy and challenging patient environment. The post holder will need to meet tight deadlines, manage confidential patient information and maintain high standards relating to administrative processes.

The Haematology Clinical Trials team is a busy team working across a large portfolio of trials. It is expected that the admin assistant will work in line with current practice and clinical trials guidelines.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
