Job summary

Cardiff and Vale UHB are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Workers with a commitment to delivering high quality patient care. We are looking for empathetic and caring individuals who are looking to work in mental health or acute ward settings.There will be opportunities available in both University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital of Llandough

We are looking for a caring, approachable healthcare support workers, who have a passion for caring for people when they are at their most vulnerable.

Full time and part time (24hours) positions are available.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be given the opportunity to develop their skills and experience within Cardiff and Vale UHB.You will be actively encouraged to undertake further study to enhance your knowledge and skills.

We are looking for candidates who are motivated, compassionate and can adapt quickly to change. You must possess good communication and interpersonal skills, whilst being able to work autonomously and well within a team. Commitment to patient care must be demonstrated. You will be an invaluable team member with assisting in maintaining the ward areas.

You will be expected to be able to assist the registered nurse.

  • providing assistance with personal care
  • recording and reporting of vital signs
  • assisting with admissions and discharges
  • Ensuring a high standard of infection control procedures, in accordance with our policies.
  • Maintaining ward stocks, keeping storerooms organised, keeping clinical areas and equipment clean and tidy, and any other duties as delegated by nursing staff.
  • Assisting patients in maintaining their personal hygiene. Helping our patients to shower/ bath, provide washing facilities access and the use of toilet facilities - promoting independence where possible.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential as full education, and training will be provided.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
