The South Wales Doctoral Training Programme in Clinical Psychology is seeking to appoint one or two new members of staff due to further increases in trainee numbers. The post is available at agenda for change (A4C) grade 8a (£48,526 - £54,619) or 8b (£56,164 - £65,262) depending on experience. The post/s will be part-time with approximately 1.4 WTE in total available.

The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology is run in partnership between Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB) and Cardiff University. The programme is based in the School of Psychology which has an established international research record. The programme works in partnership with supervisors from across health boards in south, mid, and west Wales.

Main duties of the job

The posts involves supporting the delivery of the clinical psychology programme and may involve acting as an appraisal tutor for trainees, supporting delivery of teaching, supporting maintenance of programme accreditations including CBT accreditation. There will also be opportunity to support the supervision of trainee dissertations. The post are open to HCPC registered practitioner psychologists or/and accredited BABCP CBT therapists with backgrounds in any specialism, although we are particularly keen to attract candidates with additional experience in Older Adult and Learning Disability Services. We are also keen to attract people with prior experience of working in a higher education setting.

The incoming post holder/s will likely join the 'clinical' or 'academic' teams. However, we are keen to attract candidates with interest in developing a research portfolio or with demonstratable research expertise. For 8b appointments there would be expectation of leading on specific aspects of the programmes infrastructure such as chairing one of the programmes subcommittees or leading on a major area of programme development, or/and independently supervising DClin doctorial projects.
