Job Title: Ophthalmology Nurse Manager
Location: University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
We are a leading provider of ophthalmic care within Wales & are dedicated to improving vision & eye health in our community. We are seeking a dynamic & experienced Ophthalmology Nurse Manager to join our team & lead our outpatient department.
As an Ophthalmology Nurse Manager you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality of patient care in our outpatient ophthalmology setting. You will lead a team of dedicated nurses & support staff & contribute to our commitment to excellence in eye care.

Essential Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration & degree qualification.
- Previous ophthalmic nursing experience or a related field.
- Strong leadership & managerial skills.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
- Post graduate qualifications or a willingness to undertake.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Supervision and Management:
Lead compassionately to enable your nursing team to provide exceptional patient care.
Foster a collaborative & supportive work environment.
- Patient Care Management:
Ensure the delivery of safe, effective & compassionate ophthalmic patient care & support.
Address patient concerns & monitor patient outcomes & satisfaction.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Develop & implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance the patient experience & clinical outcomes.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, standards, & policies.
- Budget and Resource Management:
Manage the department's budget efficiently.
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality care.
- Education and Training:
Provide ongoing training and education to keep the team & patients informed about the latest ophthalmic evidence-based practices.
- Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with other healthcare departments & disciplines to ensure coordinated ophthalmic patient care.
Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families.
Serve as a liaison between nursing staff & senior management.
