Job summary

If you already have, or expect to gain your post-graduate pharmacy diploma in 2023, join us to embark on a new challenge, with the opportunity to influence the future direction of pharmacy services!

Due to internal promotion and movement to highly specialist posts (9 rotational clinical pharmacists in the past twelve months) we have an opportunity for an ambitious pharmacist to join the Pharmacy team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

We are delighted to have already retained our current 2nd year diploma pharmacists, so the posts that we are currently advertising are exclusively for pharmacists who are working at hospitals in other health boards/trusts who want to come and join the pharmacy team at Cardiff and Vale.

We are committed to providing the best learning and supportive personal development experience for post foundation level pharmacists and believe this is an ideal stepping stone towards specialist / advanced practice. We are in the process of re-structuring the rotations and how we provide clinical support & mentorship following feedback from our current and previous cohort of pharmacists, which will improve the outcomes and experience for individuals.

We recognise that our profession's future leadership will come from pharmacists like you, with drive and ability. Join our highly motivated team and share in our values, caring for people, keeping them well.

Main duties of the job

As a rotational clinical pharmacist working in various MDTs, you will have an integral role in providing high-quality specialist pharmacy services to inpatients and outpatients across South East Wales. You will contribute to the training and development of less experienced team members, as well as medical and nursing colleagues.

Our posts will enable you to deepen your knowledge and expertise, and broaden clinical and non-clinical skills under the direction of experienced lead practitioners in a variety of clinical areas including acute medical admissions, paediatric oncology, nephrology and transplant, haematology, critical care and a newly added part rotation with the Welsh Medicines Information Centre. You can join our continuing drive to improve quality as we embark on a major redesign of our provision of integrated medicines management services; we aim to achieve the best outcomes for our patients through delivery of excellence in pharmaceutical care.

Your professionalism, excellent inter-personal skills and enthusiasm, will equip you to be a valued contributor to our service and to develop to be a key member of our clinical pharmacy team. You will be supported to develop your independent prescribing role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
