This job is now closed
Job summary
We are delighted to offer a new post in Cardiff and Vale suitable for those candidates keen to gain more experience in emergency medicine at a post foundation training level but are also passionate about transformation and developing collaborative clinical pathways.
This novel post will provide a solid grounding in Emergency Medicine in a tertiary Major Trauma Centre while also providing the opportunity to work on Hospital Health Pathways in the Emergency Department in order to improve patient safety, efficiency and ease of working.
The 12 month post will be split 50:50 between clinical duties and Hospital Health Pathways.
Hospital Health Pathways (HHP) provides secondary care clinicians with access to a suite of localised pathways, in this instance reflecting the agreed pathways within an Acute Trust. Written primarily for junior doctors, and for senior doctors working outside their specialty, Hospital Health Pathways is used across an organisation to promote standardised ways of working, to reduce duplication, inconsistency, and confusion.
The appointee will have the opportunity to:
- Identify areas in our ED that improve flow
- Establish their own networks
- Contribute to ongoing new pathways
- Inform and educate staff on pathway changes
The rotation is offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months.
Main duties of the job
The Hospital HealthPathways Clinical Editor will:
- Work with the programme team and work groups to identify priorities for pathway localisation or development.
- Work with Subject Matter Experts (usually at least one person from the specialty service) to localise/develop the pathways and to identify another secondary care colleague or two to act as a sounding board.
- Gather the required information, particularly the clinical information on how assessment, management, and referral are/will be performed locally.
- Provide the information to the HealthPathways team for editing and layout in the HealthPathways style.
- Review the new draft pathways produced by the HealthPathways team for accuracy and completeness.
- Obtain additional reviews and comments from the subject matter expert(s) and work group, as required, to finalise the pathway.
