Job summary
We are currently seeking Healthcare Support Workers for Cardiff and Vale Orthopaedic Centre in UHL.
CAVOC is a fast paced, 24/7 elective orthopaedic ward based unit with a high turn over. It has 29 beds on Charles Radcliffe Ward and 6 beds on Gilbert bay.
On CAVOC, we follow a patients journey through the unit, providing pre and post operative care as part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team.
Applicants will be required to assist in the patient's journey through the treatment pathway.
This is a full time post with nights and weekends. Applicants must be flexible to the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who is motivated, compassionate and can adapt quickly to change. You must possess good communication and interpersonal skills, whilst being able to work autonomously and well within a team. Commitment to patient care must be demonstrated. You will be an invaluable team member with assisting in maintaining the ward flow.
You will be expected to be able to assist the registered nurse to care for pre and post operative patients, including:
- providing assistance with personal care
- recording and reporting of vital signs
- assisting with admissions and discharges
We are a forward-thinking department and strive to give the patients the best care possible.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential as full education, and training will be provided.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
