Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Forensic CAMHS and the Young People's Drug and Alcohol Team that both form part of the larger Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health (EW&MH) Care Group.
These teams work closely with other parts of the Care Group (Assessment Team, Interventions Team, Intensive Home Treatment Team, Community Intensive Therapies Team) and local partnerships such as the Youth Justice Service (YJS). The team currently consists of nursing and art therapy, and is a small but connected service with consultation, developmental trauma and relational ways of working at it's core.
This is a new role, so service development will be a key part of it, and the role will be supported by more senior psychologists working in our crisis and engagement teams and pathways. There will be scope, in particular, to develop the service's trauma-informed care approach to meet the holistic needs of young people and their families and support the building of engagement and development of resilience.
Main duties of the job
The main focus of the work will be to help establish formulation based understandings of difficulties that children and young people face in engaging with services, engaging in helpful interventions, promoting wider understandings of distress and how it presents, and promoting relationships as the intervention at a community level. The postholder will also play a key role in providing consultative support, supervision and training to the multidisciplinary or wider agency teams, up-skilling other professionals in psychological interventions and ensuring that shared psychological understanding underpins all aspects of care throughout the young person's pathway to recovery.
The post is permanent, and 18.75 hours per week, so there is flexibility on how the hours are configured. The service also operates a hybrid model of in person and virtual working.
