Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, proactive dietitian to join the Tier 3 Eating disorders service. We are based in Cardiff Royal Infirmary and work alongside our sister Tier 2 Team forming two parts of the Adult Eating Disorders Service. The service provides evidence-based approaches in line with NICE guidelines and Matrics Cymru (e.g. CBT, IPT, SSCM) as well as more flexible formulation-based and trauma-informed approaches. The eating disorders service support people with a range of eating disorder presentations to clients in Cardiff and Vale and Cwm Taf UHBs.

This is an exciting time to be involved in eating disorder services in Wales as we continue to evolve in response to government review recommendations. The service has expanded over the last couple of years. We hold strong links with relevant specialist services such as Weight Management, Traumatic Stress, Integrated Autism Service, CMHTs and CAMHS as well as core acute and community dietetic services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supporting clinical leadership and operational performance of the Eating disorder dietitians, in collaboration with the Lead Psychologist and Consultant Dietitian in the Eating disorders service. The post holder will have a clinical remit across transition and adult services.

The successful person will have excellent communication and influencing skills, extensive clinical experience of working in adult eating disorders as well as transitions. Additionally, experience of operational management of staff. alongside proven leadership experience and an innovative approach to service development and evaluation is required. The ability to work alone as well as within a multi-disciplinary team is essential across acute and community settings as part of a team is essential.

A core element of your role will be to undertake eating disorder assessments and provide evidence-based interventions. There will be opportunities to supervise other dietitians, participate in service development as well as training and operational duties within the dietetic team.

In return we are highly committed to CPD, staff development and you will have excellent opportunities to be involved in service improvement.You will receive regular supervision from the Consultant Dietitian as well as Psychological support from the SHED service lead.
