Registered Nurse - C4 Stroke

Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Acute Stroke team at UHW.

Ward C4 South is the Acute Stroke Unit at the University Hospital of Wales caring for patients in the early stages of the stroke pathway.

Patients are admitted during the acute phase of their Stroke for assessment, acute medical management, including thrombolysis and/or thrombectomy treatment, and discharge planning. You will develop a close working relationship with our Acute Stroke Clinical Nurse Specialist Team and with our colleagues in the Stroke Rehabilitation Centre in UHL. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team you will care for patients along every stage of the pathway, developing and consolidating both specialist and core nursing skills. You will be supported in your development through study days and training within the ward environment.

Main duties of the job

As a staff nurse within the Acute Stroke Unit at the University Hospital of Wales, your main duties will be

To be responsible for the assessment of care needs

Develop, implement and evaluate care plans

To be responsible for own group of patients

To advocate on behalf of patients to ensure the patient's voice is heard

The successful candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary team

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
